Balancing Act

Nestled between the hustle of Central Florida, lives the quaint town of Mount Dora. A city known for its charm and small-town flavor, Mount Dora invites all to explore its many appeals including its rich history and alluring art scene. Unfortunately, this invitation has spread past its reach. Since growing up, I have watched my home become flooded with suburban neighborhoods and overcrowded with corporations such as fast-food joints and supermarkets. The small brick roads replaced with highways have led many to quickly move and experience the small-town charm. Sadly, although many come for this reason, they are the reason this charm is rapidly fading away. 

It is for this reason, that I decided to document the beauty and fascination of Mount Dora. Throughout this series, I have captured the aspects of the town that may be lost one day, if the current rate of destruction continues. When beginning this project, I discovered this issue was not only affecting my home but many others small towns that they call home. Through this, I aim to connect with my audience and inspire them to pause and take in the beauty of what once was, rather than what is next.
