Echo

Throughout the series, Echo, I have chosen to highlight a key part of many people’s lives, childhood. As I reflected on the parts of growing up that shaped who I am today, I was filled with small flashes of fun filled summer days and carefree exploration.  These experiences are the foundation of who we become and the connection between them shapes our beliefs and constructs the way we build our lives.

In my photographs, I capture the essence of these memories. Blurred movement and bright colors encapsulate the recollection of moments from my childhood. Although each memory stands to be important by itself, the link between them is what creates a person. In order to show this, I have embroidered each photo with a circle, defining the remembrance of the moment and symbolizing the relation between each photo. Although these photos are a personal reflection, as my audience views the collection, they are invited to remember the moments that once filled them with an innocent joy. We each have a unique experience in the ways that we have been built as a person. This is what creates diversity within a community. In this, I have made this series a way to reflect on the past and remember what made you who you are.
